Mahmoud obtained his LL.B. with honors from the Faculty of Law – English Section, Cairo University. He also obtained a diploma in Business Administration from the American University in Cairo. He holds a Master’s degree in Public and International Law from Cairo University (ranked 1st) and an LL.M. in Comparative and International Dispute Resolution from Queen Mary University. Mahmoud also holds a certificate in Contract Law from Harvard University.

 

Mahmoud is specialized in dispute resolution with a particular focus on investor-state, interstate and commercial arbitration dispute before leading arbitral institutions. Mahmoud’s recent experience includes a particular focus on arbitrations in the energy, tourism, construction and hospitality sectors.

He also actively contributes to the practice of M&A, drafting high profile energy and hotel management agreements and assisted in conducting a significant number of due diligences on companies in different sectors. Mahmoud also has expertise in negotiating and drafting construction and project agreements.

Prior joining the firm, Mahmoud was an associate in a top tier arbitration law firm in Cairo then became a Judge at the Egyptian State Council.

 

In 2022, Mahmoud has been selected by the Africa Arbitration Academy to be part of the Flagship Training Programme. Mahmoud received a number of awards and prizes including Chevening scholarship and bourse excellence Eiffel.

Mahmoud is a member of AYA, IBA, Young International Arbitration Group – LCIA, YSIAC; he is also a member of the Egyptian Bar Association. His working languages are Arabic, English and French.
